Wednesday was quite a happy day. Barbara was evicted.
Normally, I would not cheer someone's eviction, but in this case I am on cloud 9.
Barbara is the batty whackjob that lives... excuse me, LIVED right above my apartment. In my first year here, she flooded my apartment somewhere around 6 times. This was always done by flooding her own apartment and letting it continue to flood until the water worked its way through her floor and out my light fixtures (oh yes, light fixtures).
She did not leave quietly. It took two moving trucks and quite a few large men to remove her things, and they were not able to finish the job in just one day. They're still working up there. Mind, this apartment is not large, it's the same size as mine!
She did not leave quietly, and had her own little celebration, flooding my kitchen again. When confronted by the super as to what had happened this time, she responded that the faucets in her kitchen went bad 2 weeks (yes, TWO WEEKS) ago, would not turn off, and had simply been running all that time. AAAAARRRRRGGGGGG
I met with the insurance claims adjuster yesterday to go over the damage, and indeed, he confirmed that all of the cabinetry structure would have to be replaced, the walls need repairing and the floors need replacing as well.
Gone.
I am so HAPPY
I will finally be able to fix the kitchen up again. Took bloody well long enough, the eviction proceedings started over a year ago.
